Why is mobile important to us at Rackspace?

There’s no doubt that mobile apps are growing exponentially both in use and sophistication. ObjectRocket and Rackspace want developers to be well prepared and well supported when that exponential growth hits them personally. That’s why we created the NoSQL Mobile App Challenge: to give you a chance to try our products for free while building a real-world mobile app of your choice.
The data services behind your app must cater to ever-growing storage workloads and must balance malleability, power, and speed. Your users expect rapid interaction with data on their phones, and so data-as-a-service providers like us must enable you to provide that experience. When you and your users feel little to no pain, we can be confident that we’ve succeeded in our mission.
This is precisely the path we are on. We want developers like you to be able to use a NoSQL database that can be molded to the needs of your data -- not the other way around. We believe in the well-known and well-respected architectural principle of “form follows function.” Not only should the data stores be organized to follow the function of your app, they should be fast enough to deliver complex outputs to your users. When your user base grows quickly, the data stores need to scale even more quickly, so that there is no lag, and neither you nor your users feel any pain.
